How we measure your furniture?
We measure your furniture by length, width and height as seen below to determine how much floor and wall space your new furniture will occupy.
Measuring for delivery
Measure the diagonal depth and width of the furniture as seen below to determine if it will fit through your home’s entryways.
Sofa length (L) must be less than entryway dimension 1, stairway dimensions 3, 4 & 8, and all interior doorways 6 or 7.
Sofa diagonal depth (DD) must be less than entryway dimension 2, stairway dimensions 3, 4 & 8, and all interior doorways 6 or 7.
Case goods diagonal depth (DD) must be less than entryway dimension 1, stairway dimensions 3, 4 & 8, and all interior doorways 6 or 7.
Case goods width (W) must be less than entryway dimensions 1 or 2, stairway dimensions 3, 4 & 8, and all interior doorways 6 or 7.
Preparing for Delivery
Before purchasing your new furniture, please take note of all required measurements and any potential obstacles to help ensure a smooth and successful delivery.
Before our delivery team arrives, we recommend preparing your home by completing the following steps
(Please note that our delivery team is unable to perform these preparations for you):
- Secure or remove low-hanging light fixtures
- Remove doors if additional clearance is needed
- Place rugs securely or roll them up if necessary
- Take down pictures, mirrors, or wall art
- Move existing furniture out of the delivery path
- Keep pets safely in another room during delivery
Will It Fit? Checklist
- Is there enough space for the furniture in the room where it will be placed?
- Can the furniture pass through all doors required for delivery and placement?
Doorway Clearance
- Is the width of the furniture less than the width of your doorways?
- Is there sufficient space on either side of the doorway to move the piece through horizontally or at an angle?
- Is the length of the furniture less than the doorway height?
- Is there enough wall-to-wall clearance to move the furniture through vertically or at an angle?
Elevators
- Will the furniture fit inside the building’s elevator?
- Is the length of the furniture less than the elevator ceiling height?
- Is the width of the furniture narrower than the elevator door opening?
Stairways
- Can the furniture be carried up the stairs?
- Is the width of the furniture less than the stair width?
- If the staircase includes turns or landings, is the furniture length less than the stairwell ceiling height?
📐 Measure Your Room — Not Just the Entry Path
In addition to measuring doorways and staircases, it is equally important to measure the room where your furniture will be placed.
Before purchasing, please make sure the wall where the item will be installed is wide enough to accommodate the full width of the product.
For example:
If you are purchasing a 100” wide wardrobe, the wall where it will be placed must be wider than 100”.
We strongly recommend allowing additional clearance space on both sides for proper positioning and professional installation.
➕ Allow Extra Space for Installation
Furniture—especially large pieces such as wardrobes, wall units, and armoires—requires extra space during assembly.
Please consider:
- A few extra inches on each side for maneuvering and alignment
- Additional depth clearance in front of the unit for assembly
- Space for installers to safely work
Installing a piece that fits wall-to-wall with zero clearance may not be possible.
📏 Ceiling Height Matters
Ceiling height is also a critical measurement.
Make sure:
- The ceiling height is greater than the overall product height
- There is additional vertical clearance for lifting and assembling the unit
For tall wardrobes, bookcases, or wall units, installers often need to tilt the furniture upright during setup. If ceiling height is too tight, installation may not be possible.
✔ Important Reminder
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure:
- The furniture fits through the delivery path
- The furniture fits in the designated room
- There is adequate space for safe and proper installation
